Since 2020, Caryma Sa'd has been the person behind the media company ProtestMania.com. Like accelerant on a fire, Caryma gets in the face of protestors, and has her cameraman ready to capture inflammatory images, which Caryma then spreads on social media to fuel the fire and make a lot of money.
Caryma's most famous victim was a retired volunteer at a Liberal party rally near Brantford, Ontario, who came to be known as the Brantford Boomer. Strangely, the Brantford Boomer was widely mocked for having a pension and being a property owner. According to the CBC and other media outlets, the Brantford Boomer faced threats after having his image posted on X.com by Caryma Sa'd. The Brantford Boomer told the CBC: "It's been a week from hell, it's taken over my life. I'm just a normal, regular person," he said. "I reacted in the moment and it's just been blown way out of proportion."
Caryma named the Brantford Boomer ProtestMania.com's video of the year for 2025. He became so famous your children might know about him.
Caryma cultivates the image of a person playing a dangerous game. On her Instagram account, she writes, "Comment at your own risk." Will this danger follow her to Ward 14 if she's elected to City Council?
Caryma takes no prisoners in her work and frequently tries to identify and shame and bring financial harm to people who get in her way. (Note, I covered the name and face of the person in the image to protect their privacy)
On August 21, 2026, Caryma surprised her almost 70,000 followers on X.com by announcing that she had entered the race for City Council to represent Ward 14 Toronto Danforth.
The response on X.com was overwhelmingly favorable. Caryma received endorsements from journalists from all over Canada (and her supporters from all over the world) who had followed her work. This endorsement came from a journalist named Ty Sylvester who is a contributor to the Winnipeg Sun, as if he knows anything about what Toronto-Danforth needs.
After entering the race for City Council, Caryma created all new social media profiles to keep her multiple identities separate.
Caryma opened a second X.com account for her campaign and says that the views of ProtestMania.com don't represent her campaign views. However, together with her cameraman, she is the driving force behind ProtestMania.com
She also created a new Instagram account. This one doesn't mention that it's dangerous to comment.
For a short while, her ProtestMania.com website said her business was on hiatus until October 27, 2026, the day after the election.
However, Caryma soon changed her mind and started publishing more ProtestMania.com videos (this one from September 1, 2026 films protests outside the offices of municipal councillors). She also started taking donations again on ProtestMania.com
If Caryma Sad gets elected as City Council member in Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth she will have a serious conflict of interest. None of the journalists who supported Caryma entering the race questioned her about this conflict.
As City Council member, Caryma will have access to information that would be advantageous to her media company and could influence decisions that benefit her media company, especially the Bubble Zone bylaw.
As a media entrepreneur, Caryma will also be able to influence media coverage of her activities as a City Council member.
Even if Caryma does not actively manage ProtestMania.com once she's elected, it is rumoured that she is in a personal relationship with the cameraman for ProtestMania.com, Lee Wasserman, who will presumably carry on the ProtestMania.com business while Caryma works at City Council.
Caryma Sad is definitely the wrong person to be on City Council for Toronto-Danforth.
Our ward has thousands of people exactly like the Brantford Boomer (i.e. retired property owners) who came to be mocked through the actions of Caryma Sa'd and ProtestMania.com. One wonders if Caryma is honest about this with voters when she goes door-to-door to ask for donations and votes in our community.
Although Caryma's new Instagram profile doesn't warn people to "Comment at your own risk" like her old one did, Caryma's rabble of supporters will certainly follow her to Toronto-Danforth and create conflict for our ward, whether that takes place online or in person on our streets.
Leaving issues of her character aside, Caryma also has a conflict of interest which she needs to be up front about with voters before the election. So far, Caryma's said nothing about it. (She's only stopped and restarted her business for a brief moment) Maybe Caryma doesn't even realize that she will have a conflict of interest, which says a lot about her suitability to be a member of City Council.
